The Wedding List

We are properly chuffed that you are coming to our wedding - seeing everyone we love in one place will be the Best Present Ever. So really just being there with us will be enough.

So many of you are helping us with your time, your talents and your all round wonderfulness and for that we are more grateful than we can tell you. Seriously - you know who you are and you’re awesome.

Any present you would like to give us - homemade, second hand or just plain bonkers - would be welcomed and appreciated. However, if you're reading this and thinking "that’s all lovely but I have absolutely no idea what to get you" then here is the cunning plan we have hatched...

The Honeymoon Plan (the name is not cunning...)

We have never really had a proper holiday. Mark has been crazy-busy with his PhD and since he finished that (and proposed in spectacularly geeky fashion) we’ve been saving for the wedding and buying a house. We've planned our dream honeymoon and we'd gratefully accept any contributions towards the cost of it. There will be a box at South Farm where you can leave cards with either cash or cheques inside.

Norway

In November this year we will be going to Norway for a week. We will fly to Tromso where we’ll spend a couple of days staying in a 4 star hotel near the harbour. We hope to have a chance to go on a dog sled trip, do a bit of sight-seeing, and eat lots of lovely local food. We will then take a day-long trip on the Hurtigruten Coastal Express - a ferry that will take us to the Lofoten Islands. This should be amazing - Mark has always wanted to see the Norwegian Coast and hopes to take some amazing photos in the Arctic twilight. The next 4 nights will be spent in a traditional fishermans cabin on the Lofoten Islands. We are really hoping to see the Northern Lights - NASA has predicted that this year could see the best activity for fifty years. During the day we plan to go on a nature safari on a boat (where we'll hopefully see some Killer Whales!), rent bikes and cycle around the area, and eat lots more lovely local food.

Just to give you some ideas....

  1. £20 will pay for a trip to the Nordnorsk Vitensenter - a Planetarium in Tromso
  2. £25 will pay for a trip to Polaria - where we can see Bearded Seals
  3. £30 will pay for us to take a cable car up Mount Storsteinen
  4. £40 will pay for a guided tour of Mack’s Brewery - the world’s most northerly brewery
  5. £90 will pay for our rooms to have a harbour view in Tromso
  6. £110 will pay for our guided Northern Lights hike
  7. £270 will pay for our killer whale watching trip
  8. £280 will pay for a 4 hour dog sledding trip in Tromso

We are so excited to finally be going on holiday together and any money you give us will be spent making an amazing trip even more wonderful. So thank you millions for being so very generous. Watch out for photos when we get back!
